About Know Well Counseling

Caryn became a therapist out of a deep curiosity about people and a genuine compassion for their experiences. From early on, she felt a strong desire to understand not only herself, but others as well. Over time, this interest grew and led her to the field of therapy.
Caryn earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Caryn’s eclectic approach to therapy has been developed over years of practice and experience. It primarily draws upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems modalities because they have been the most researched. In practice, they also often prove to be most effective for her clients.
Caryn is passionate about creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about your feelings and the challenges you are facing. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or troubled by difficult life experiences. Caryn considers it a privilege to walk alongside them on their path toward improving their lives. Together, they work to understand what’s happening, gain perspective, and take steps toward healing and meaningful change.
Caryn named her practice Known Well Counseling because she believes that being seen, heard, and known for who you really are helps you understand yourself. This knowledge helps you heal and grow. It even changes your brain in several beneficial ways. She finds the greatest reward in her work when a client completes therapy feeling positive about themselves and their future
Outside of work, Caryn enjoys being active. She loves walking, jogging, biking, and dancing. Whether in the quiet solitude of nature or on a lively dance floor, she feels grateful for the gift of life. Above all, Caryn treasures time with her family.
