Is Therapy Right For Me?

Many people can benefit from therapy, even if you wouldn't consider the issues in your daily life to be 'serious'. Therapy can be helpful for anyone who feels stuck, anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed. It can be an amazing tool to help you better understand yourself and your unique needs. From problem solving to trauma healing, therapy provides a non-judgmental, safe and compassionate space with a trained, experienced therapist to support you in the work of growth, healing and change. If you’re ready to do the “work”, therapy may very well be right for you.

How Long Will Therapy Take to Work?

The short answer is that it depends. Different goals and needs require different amounts of time. Some issues can be addressed in 8-12 sessions.  Other concerns can take longer.

Here is what you can expect. Therapy sessions are regularly 50 minutes long and most patients begin with weekly appointments. Your therapist will regularly check in with you about how things are progressing and together you'll revise your care plan accordingly.

If you don’t feel like you’re making progress or have concerns with your treatment, please talk to your therapist. Together, you can discuss what might work better for you. Keep in mind that change is often not a linear trajectory, but an ebb and flow process. You can expect some bumps in the road on your healing journey.

Will Everything I Say Be Confidential?

Yes! Privacy is your legal right. There are a few exceptions such as risk of harm to yourself or someone else, and suspected abuse of a minor or vulnerable person. Limits of confidentiality will be reviewed in your first session.

5

What Can I Expect From My First Session?

The first session is intended for you and your therapist to get to know each other.  They’ll ask about what brings you to therapy, your symptoms, goals, and personal history. They will also review confidentiality and their practice policies. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and get a sense of your comfort level.

Remember, this is also the time to see if your new therapist will be a good fit for you!

Why Online Therapy?

Know Well Counseling specializes in remote therapy.  Rather than holding sessions in a traditional office space, we meet with clients online. Telehealth therapy provides the same attentive care as in-person care. In many cases, it may even be preferrable due to it's zero minute commute and added privacy.

How Much Does Therapy Cost?

Known Well Counseling accepts private pay clients and several insurance plans. To know what you might pay per session, contact us. You can also check with your insurance company directly.

Do note that we require 24-hour notice before your scheduled appointment to cancel or reschedule. There is a late cancellation/no-show fee of $100.00 for a missed session. Health insurance does not cover this fee.
